Office Supply Portraits

Recent portraits from life in Japan

Here's a couple of portraits I made for dear friends recently. :) For both portraits, I had forgotten my art supplies at home! O.O Improvised these with stationary supplies that were found in my office, printer paper, ball-point pen, mechanical pencil, and colored pencils.

The bottom is a portrait of Emiko-san. She is a restaurant owner, nutritionist, and farmer living in Ogimi Village, Okinawa. I had the pleasure of spending one week with her this spring, doing a work-stay at her farm. She was so lovely, cooked amazing food, and shared many stories and wisdoms with me.  You can learn more about her and her work by clicking the photo.

The top drawing is my good friend and fellow Californian, Alice.  Alice turned 23 today!  I made this portrait as a gift for her.  She is an excellent food and travel blogger, she loves Disneyland, and most of all, she LOVES living in Tokyo. <3

I had so much fun creating these little portraits.  So happy to get to know these individuals better. :)
